Education design in Senegal

Our entry for a education design competition (M00-tion studio and MWBM architects). The brief required a sustainable and affordable proposal and the use of local material.

Our design proposes an episodic architecture, focusing on a spectrum of activities, from learning to living and playing. Instead of a linear relationship between these activities, we propose a number of intervals in between the allocated spaces to motivate movement and encourage a mindful and healthy experience for the students and the staff.

Movement, physical and mental health as well as playfulness is an important element in the design. This has been applied through the fluid layout of the building, the flexible partitioning between the rooms and strong engagement between the architecture of the building and the existing landscape.
